Tile mosaic was our latest craft experiment. The kids really enjoyed making light switches for their room. To start, we lightly sanded plastic light switch covers so that the grout and tile and glass pieces would stick better to the plastic.

Morse code has a very interesting history, in many ways this simple code led to modern day communications. In Morse code, the letters of the alphabet are represented by dots and dashes. It's also one of the few codes that can be communicated by light or sound.

My twin boys are busy this summer reading up for Battle of the Books. They love to read, have great memories, and love to discuss (argue) about books, so this a great program for them. We've had a lot of fun asking each other questions about the books we've read.

The Dangerous Book for Boys isn't really that dangerous. It's a fun book, though you may have a bit of trouble convincing the kids of that. At first glance, the book seems a bit old fashioned and looks a little like a history book.

Dragonflight is the first book in the acclaimed Dragonriders of Pern novels by Anne McCaffrey. The first segment of the book won a Hugo award in 1968, and the second part won a Nebula award.

Even though this activity bombed for my own family, I still think it's a very fun idea. We got All-American Car-i-oke for a long trip. I had visions of us all singing along happily as we cruised down the highway.

My summer is just whooshing by. I've heard from other mothers that they feel the same way, so I thought I'd try to think of some extremely quick and easy ways to celebrate summer. 1. Slice up a watermelon for an afternoon snack or dessert. Have some wet wipes or paper towels handy. 2.

Remember "Pig Latin"? It really doesn't have anything to do with Latin, but it is a fun language game. You can either share these language skills with the kids or use it as a way to talk around them if they've already learned to spell.
