Six Causes for Jaw Pain

Sometimes, a health issue is straightforward: you experience pain in an area of the body, and that's where the problem is. Sometimes, where it hurts isn't where the problem actually is.

Diary of a Cat Care B&B: the Worst Part of the Job

05 Nov 2009 03:17 PM

It feels like this year has been a rough one for some of our favorite clients at the cats-only boarding facility. Some of our long-time visitors succumbed to chronic health issues or old age. It feels like we've been sending a lot of condolence cards. I don't like it. Not one bit.

Caretakers and the Flu

04 Nov 2009 02:29 PM

Who is the caretaker in your family when somebody gets sick? When I was growing up, taking care of sick kids was my mom's job (although she did share the duties with both of my grandmothers on occasion). With the double flu whammy this winter, you may find your family needing a caretaker.

Dementia and the Flu

Of Mice, Teeth, and Fairies

The magical day has arrived... Happy Halloween to those who are dressing up and celebrating today! I'm taking a break from putting the finishing touches on my costume to give some thought to the Tooth Fairy.

Halloween and the Escape Artist

31 Oct 2009 09:14 AM

Halloween can be a day with more tricks than treats if you share your home with a four-legged escape artist. Picture it: Halloween 2004. Moose, Lally, and I were living in New Jersey with my grandmother.

Cancer: Local Spread vs. Metastasis

30 Oct 2009 06:07 PM

One of the most insidious things about cancer is the way it can spread. I'm not especially a fan of the way it can keep coming back after treatment, either, but that's a story for another day.
